75 Years of Liberation.

Am proud and honored to announce that I am completed a beautiful project in the context of “75 years of liberation” after World War II – From September 2019 (Southern Limburg (NL)) until 5 May 2020 (The Netherlands)

Based on the beautiful text (in Limburgian language) by lyricist Frans Pollux “75 Jaor Vreej”, I wrote a composition with the same title (of approx. 11 minutes) in several versions and combinations and perfomable in all possible local dialects of Limburg.

This wonderful assignment was given to me by a joint initiative of Limburgse Bond Van Muziekgezelschappen, VNK Limburg, Limburgse Bond van Tamboerkorpsen i.s.m. House for the Arts Limburg.

A very great way to contribute to the Limburg language and musical culture.

Orchestra South has worked hard on its own artistic development in recent years. In addition, the orchestra profiles itself as an orchestra that places great value on talent development. In the spring of 2019 Orkest Zuid therefore offers conductors the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and conducting skills.

Masterclass leader is Jos van de Braak, conductor and artistic director of Orkest Zuid. He has previously organized conducting master classes and courses in collaboration with Orkest Zuid. In this masterclass he works together with Kees Waiboer, psychologist and trombonist. Waiboer will discuss, among other things, stage fright, fear of failure and the contact between musician and conductor.

Theory Day: Saturday 13 April: 10.00 – 16.00 Hrs.

Practice day: Saturday 20 April: 10.00 – 16.00 Hrs.

The third edition of Summerwind Academy Thorn starts Friday. (31 August – 2 September) Ivan Meylemans guarantees a very interesting 3-day conducting course with the theme of symphonic wind music.

The students will not only work with Harmony St. Michael van Thorn, but also the Zeeuws Orkest will lend its cooperation to the course.

The program includes the surprising work → Naughty Limericks by the Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin. The arrangement for concert band is made by Christiaan Janssen and published at → Baton Music.
